The Consumer Division of the British building materials group Travis Perkins with its two distribution channels Wickes and Toolstation recorded sales of GBP 1.518 bn in 2016. This equates to growth of 9.5 per cent and 6.4 per cent on a like-for-like basis. The company says it is experiencing continued strong market share gains.
Last year Wickes converted 46 stores to its new store format, bringing the total number of new format stores to 62. The company also highlights developments to its online proposition with nationwide click and collect within one hour, one-hour time slots for home deliveries and same-day delivery on up to 7 000 products. It is reported that Wickes achieved over GBP 100 mio in online sales for the first time in 2016.
Toolstation has also expanded, opening another 36 stores in the UK and seven shops in the Netherlands, where it now has twelve outlets. The store opening programme will accelerate further in the Netherlands, according to the company. Online only ranges have been introduced for the first time with over 1 000 products available. Click and collect order availability was improved to within 20 minutes.
